Choose a Metal for your Project
1095 High Carbon
The gold standard for beginners and survival knives. Easy to grind, easy to heat treat, and very tough
D2 Tool Steel
A step up in hardness. It is semi-stainless (resists rust better than 1095)
“Toothy” edge that cuts for a long time.
CPM-S35VN
This is a powder metallurgy steel. It is expensive and difficult to work with, but high-end buyers demand it for “super steel” performance.
Artisan
For makers building “show pieces” or gifts. Usually a mix of 1095 and 15N20 nickel.
